WikiLeaks published thousands of documents on Tuesday described as secret files about CIA hacking tools the government employs to break into users’ computers, mobile phones and even smart TVs from companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft and Samsung.
The document also describes CIA efforts along with foreign governments and the NSA to subvert the world’s most popular tech platforms. The documents also discusses about turning televisions into listening ports, and hacking modern cars with sophisticated on-board computers.
Former CIA Director Mike Hayden said that if the documents were actually what they were said to be, then it would be very, very damaging for the CIA.
WikiLeaks mentioned that it has planned to avoid distributing actual hacking tools that were developed by government hackers or bought from outside. Even more alarming was the statement made by WikiLeaks. “The archive appears to have been circulated among former US government hackers and contractors in an unauthorized manner, one of whom has provided WikiLeaks with portions of the archive.” referring to another catastrophic breach for the US Intelligence community.
