The US military, who has increased surveillance over North Korea, has seen movement around the missile launcher and also the construction of VIP seating in the eastern coastal city Wonsan. The surveillance technique uses data from satellites, drones and other aircraft.
North Korea has been banned by the UN from conducting missile tests, however it says that it is in the final stages of developing an intercontinental ballistic missile, fitted with a nuclear warhead. Experts say the North may be able to reach such capability in the next couple of years.
Earlier this month, Pyongyang fired off four ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan, reportedly reaching within 200 kilometers (120 miles) of Japan’s shoreline.
North Korea has been criticized for improving its military and missile capabilities under the name of space programs.
