Gaikwad had hit a 60-year-old Air India (AI) staffer with his footwear and tried to push him off the plane at Delhi airport, resulting in widespread outrage, a police case and a flight ban that restricted his movement, forcing him to travel by train.
Gaikwad did write a not-so-apologetic letter so that the flight ban be lifted on him, since it was causing him problems to carry out his ‘duties’ as an MP. Shiv Sena, Gaikwad’s political party, threatened to boycott an NDA dinner on April 10 and cause widespread protests in Maharashtra unless the issue was resolved – as in unless the flight ban is lifted.
AI unions have also backed their chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani for his decision of the flight ban. Many AI pilots have refused to fly Gaikwad unless he apologises.
And these politicians are supposed to be capable of assisting with a nation’s problems? Cmmon. Don’t fck with me.
