In 2013, Sai Praneeth, 20 at that time, defeated All England Champion Muhammad Hafiz Hashim of Malaysia, followed by his win over former World and Olympic Champion Taufik Hidayat in Indonesia Open. But Praneeth was not even getting started. He later defeated crowd favorite Hu Yun in Hong Kong superseries.
But before all of this, Praneeth had already won a bronze medal at the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) World Junior Championships.
In 2016, Praneeth defeated World no. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia in the first hurdle of the All England Championships. However, even after all these victories over former top players, Praneeth has yet to win a Grand Prix Gold or a Superseries title, usually having to see the exit during the final stage.
On Sunday, he will face of with Srikanth, another Indian player, in an all Indian final in the Singapore Open.
Keep going Praneeth. Getting a name in the sports world requires dedication and efforts, and of course perseverance.
