Lionel Messi made Barcelona win the match against Real Madrid for the La Liga title race by a score of 3 – 2. Not only that, Messi also scored his 500th goal as a Barcelona player with that last goal of the match. The goal came in stoppage time and rose Barcelona’s hopes of a third straight La Liga title.

This was Messi’s first goal against Real Madrid after three years.

The match seemed to have swung decisively in Barca’s favor when Ramos scythed down Messi to be shown the 22nd red card of his career. However, even with 10 men, Madrid rallied and leveled when substitute James Rodriguez swept home Marcelo’s cross four minutes from time.

However, that celebration was short-lived as Messi smashed the last goal into the corner after a cross from Jordi Alba.

Not every other match can be a miracle. Barcelona lost to PSG in the first match by a score of 4-0 but came through in the next match with 6-1, a miracle against a team like PSG. Just in the next game, Barcelona was defeated by Juventus FC by 3-0, and many of the supporters were wishing for a miracle come back once again.

But all hopes were lost when the 2nd leg match between Barcelona and Juventus FC ended with a tie 0-0. Lionel Messi came closest to giving Barcelona a route back into the contest with four strikes at goal but failed to hit the target with any of them and frequently came up short against Juve’s intimidating center-back pairing of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

Although Barcelona increased their possession after the half mark, and many of it’s players were in the enemy’s half showing an attacking formation, Juventus was always ready for all the confrontations.

The final moments of the Barcelona-PSG game at Camp Nou stadium can hardly be forgotten by Barcelona fans. The result, which sparked delirious celebrations at Barcelona’s 99,000 capacity Nou Camp Stadium, sent the Spanish Giants storming into the quarter-finals at the cost of the stricken Paris club.

The first three goals came by Luis Suarez, Layvin Kurzawa own goal and Lionel Messi penalty goal. However, the Barcelona team was in a tight spot when Edinson Cavani volleyed a vital away goal for PSG.

Losing the first game 4-0, Barcelona needed at least one more goal to advance. With a score of 3-1 till about the last minute, Barcelona had no chance of making it to the quater-finals (aggregate was still 5-3). However, miracles can happen.

Barcelona star, Neymar, converted a free-kick to a goal at the 88th minute! Not only that, he shot an amazing penalty at the 91st minute, making the aggregate score 5-5. It wasn’t over for Barcelona yet. Substitute midfielder Roberto turned Neymar’s chip over the defence to score another goal at the fifth minute of extra time.

All hail Barcelona! 😀
