More than 42 people were killed and wounding more than a hundred in an air strike by unidentified warplanes on a village mosque in Aleppo province. The attack happened during evening prayers and most of the casualties were civilians. The village is held by rebel and Islamist groups, but no jihadist factions are present.

Abu Muhammed, a village resident, said that he saw 15 bodies and a lot of body parts in the debris when he arrived at the scene.

An AFP reporter at the scene said rescuers earlier left the wreckage site but were forced to double back when they heard moaning coming from the debris.

The skies over Aleppo are often busy with Syrian and Russian warplanes as well as US-led coalition aircraft carrying out air strikes. Russia has often denied allegations of civilian deaths in its strikes, whereas US-led coalition said earlier this month that at least 220 civilians had been unintentionally killed in its raids in Iraq and Syria.

Twin blasts in Turkey

Why?! People killing each other, this is insane. Yet another blast in Turkey, outside the Istanbul soccer stadium. 29 people were killed out of which 27 were Police special forces and 2 were civilians. Fortunately most of the fans has already left the stadium after the match was over, and hence there weren’t many civilian casualties. But at least 166 people have been wounded.

The first blast was a car detonation that went off outside the facility known as Besiktas stadium. The second blast was from a suicide bomber a few moment later. The panic and screaming filled the streets and the pavements were littered by broken glasses of nearby buildings.

Turkey has been in a state of emergency following a failed July 15 coup attempt. Turkey is a partner in the US-led coalition against the Islamic State and its armed forces are active in neighboring Syria and Iraq. It is also facing a renewed conflict with an outlawed Kurdish movement in the southeast.

Is there really no solution to all these conflicts? Religion was meant to be a subject of peace and people had the right to choose whichever they wanted. But factions like ISS who kill in the name of God have just put a deep scar on century long religions. Read the full article here!

The Syrian rebels ask for ceasefire

In the recent events, the pressure of the Syrian army has forced the rebels to ask for a ceasefire in the city of Aleppo, Syria’s most populous city before the war. However, Syria and Russia, supporting Syria in this war, said that they won’t hold a ceasefire unless all the rebels leave Aleppo.

The ceasefire is supposed to be able to let the civilians and the wounded evacuate from the city, however there was no mention about the thousands of rebel soldier leaving the city. The Syrian army, along with the allied forces have made rapid and important gains over the rebels, especially in the last two week period, and rebels have been put under pressure. Residents told that the war is overwhelming where no one can rest for even a mere five minutes. If anyone is seen on the street, that street is soon shelled by the army. Normal civilians are struggling for food and water supplies.

The war in Syria has already killed hundreds of housands of people and has made even more number of people homeless. The refugee crisis in Syria has been the biggest yet in the world. Russia and the USA discussed on the cessation of hostilities in Aleppo, so as to make way for humanitarian aid in the region.
