Passed: Triple Talaq Bill

Is it a bliss that the Triple Talaq bill has passed Lok Sabha?

Most people while applauding the bill have condemned one major issue in the bill, which is the criminalizing of the Triple Talaq offense. Rather than keeping it a civil offense, the punishment has been changed to criminal i.e. the men involved with such issues as Triple Talaq might face Jail time. However, no other religion has had such a harsh punishment in this category as of now.

At the same time, it is a big win for Muslim women, who can finally get a chance to state their opinions and reasons in the court and not let any men cheat or ridicule them by saying a mere three words.

A few opinions are of the fact that the bill has been hastely passed in the Lok Sabha due to the upcoming 2019 political elections, and gain the votes of Muslim individuals in the country.
At the same time it is to be noted that Mr. Amit Shah tweeted “This is a historic step ensuring equality and dignity for the Muslim women. Congress and other parties must apologise for decades of injustice towards Muslim women.The usage of such words and linking political parties in the same makes you question the very intent of passing the bill.

Political voice

What is this politics,
Eating away this country;
The thing that should save us,
Is slowly turning us rusty.

Each day is a new incident
Or there is a new feed;
What is that actually goes on,
I doubt any person has a lead.

Hundreds of debates, and speeches,
And thousands of people listen;
Yet what is heard isn’t the truth,
It is just to lure the crowd within.

They play on religion or on budget,
But do they think of the country?;
Do they want to find the solution,
Or just entertain us with commentary.

The leaders threaten each other,
Making new commotion every week;
But do they not even realize,
They are making the country’s future bleak.

Even at the time of elections,
Each candidate spends on marketing;
But at least half of that money,
Could be used to fund a hospital wing.

People go with whoever is sweeter,
The words get their decision mould;
And they usually press the button,
Not considering what the future might hold.

Even after winning, they fear losing,
So they spend on the branding again;
Or keep that money in foreign banks,
So they are comfortable even after this reign.

Is it possible to correct this world,
Or is it better to create a new one;
With hard work and passion,
Where dishonesty doesn’t shadow the sun.

Politics…

#politics #India #government #life #people

There is something unique happening on political stage today. Every politician of opposition, irrespective or party or ideological beliefs, is ganging up against not one party, but one man… Narendra Modi. And the surprising part is that most of those politicians have cases of corruption, or abuse of power, against them.

They are prepared to sacrifice seats, they are prepared to accept humiliating coalition terms, so that Modi’s candidate does not win.

The reason is simple. It is just not power they stand to lose. They fear ending up in jail like Lallu if Modi comes to power for another term.

They seemed to have spared no efforts to divide voters, make false reservation promises, create strife between communities, and even bribe vested media.

The choice now rests with people.

Keep in mind that these cases of corruption like Vijay Mallya, Nirava Modi and more have come into light now. If it was another party ruling, then their would have been no disclosure only. These business people had started operating business long before the BJP government, and were caught during the tenure of the BJP government. So don’t blame BJP for these scandals.

Do people want their children to live in an atmosphere of honesty, fairness, respect, prosperity and pass on a great nation to their children and grandchildren!

It will us, the people, who will lose if we don’t choose, if we don’t vote, the right person.

Also, in this 21st century, I understand that if a country needs to progress then it should hold back its views against race/religion/gender. You need to move the country ahead, move the people ahead whoever they are and wherever they are from. How can you even waste time thinking about all these things!

That being said, no rule is without flaws, but external bleeding is much better and shorter than an internal one.

Qatar says that it never doubted US support

#Qatar #MiddleEast #SaudiArabia #military #US #F15 #Boeing #politics

Qatar has made a $12 billion deal with the US to buy F-15 fighter jets mentioning that US and Qatars military are like brothers, and that America’s support for Qatar is deep-rooted. The deal came when Qatar is facing a severe economic and diplomatic crisis because of being boycotted by Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Gulf Arab states.

Qatar hosts a big US military base housing the headquarters of US air forces in the Middle East. The base has as many as 11,000 US personnels.

However a Qatari defence ministry said that the current deal was for 36 jets, considerably reduced from the initial 72 jets with a total value of $21.1 billion that was approved by President Obama in his term. Boeing, the prime contractor, declined to comment on this.

Turkey is currently supplying some of the food imports to Qatar while Kuwait is trying to mediate the dispute between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. There have been questions that if the current situation continues, will Qatar be able to host the 2022 world cup.

It’s surprising that the deal came in such a crucial time when Qatar is facing and economy crisis. Those funds could have been used to help it’s population. Then again, a nation needs to be well defended if it has been boycotted by the neighboring nations. However, I wish Kuwait is able to find a level platform for both countries to talk and make a deal.

Indian evidence on Kashmir protests

#India #Pakistan #Kashmir #UN #UNHRC #protests #terrorism #politics

Pakistan has been given “concrete evidence” about its cross-border “encouragement and support” for the protests in Kashmir. India has also accused Pakistan of misusing the UN platform to further its despicable political objectives.

Indian representative mentioned that Pakistan is using terror to destabilize Kashmir, terrorism receives sustenance from Pakistan. Pakistan is using short-sighted tactics to divert attention as the terrorist breeding ground. Even after referring to UN Security Council resolutions, Pakistan has very conveniently forgotten it’s own obligation of vacating the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan has no hesitation in using air power/military against its own people repeatedly. The country has become an epicenter for terrorism and has seen continuous degradation and weakening.

Really. Pakistan government has no sense of pride, or justice. Harboring terrorism, as mentioned and verified by several countries is a grave ill both to the nation and the world. And then, instead of cleaning it’s own territory, the country keeps interfering in another nation’s activities. And then it has its own issue of Balochistan. How can the country even find the pride to speak anything in the UNHR Council.

Pentagon to set Afghanistan troop levels

#USA #Pentagon #politics #military #Afghanistan #USTroops #war

Pentagon was granted authority by President Trump to set troop levels in Afghanistan. Pentagon chief Jim Mattis will now be directly able to adjust troop numbers. This is similar to what was done with Iraq and Syria when White House had given the Secretary of defense the authority to set troop levels.

Commanders often complained under Barack Obama, due to his firm stance on setting and monitoring troop levels by himself, which is the reason Mr. Mattis acknowledges for US still not winning in Afghanistan.

Mr. Mattis said that the new plans on Afghanistan strategy won’t be ready until mid-July, and will probably lead to the deployment of additional troops both from US and NATO. The Don’t lose strategy won’t be good enough to win this war.

On Saturday, the Taliban claimed responsibility for an insider attack in which an Afghan commando turned his weapon on American troops, killing three and wounding another.

That is a nice decision, however as a President, even though you are not the decision make for troops, you need to know the basic stats and numbers since it’s your own country people that are putting their life on the line. I wish Trump does not forget that.

PM Narendra Modi to meet President Trump

#PrimeMinister #NarendraModi #India #President #DonaldTrump #USA #politics #trade

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be meeting President Trump and discuss on ways to expand the US-India partnership. The meet will happen on June 26 and the discussion will also include topics such as terrorism, possible changes in H-1B visa and ways to enhance business cooperation. According to the White House spokesman Sean Spicer, Trump and Prime Minister Modi have already had a number of positive phone calls.

The talks will discuss US-India trade plans, which has already skyrocketed from $19 billion in 2000 to $115 in 2016, a six-fold increase. US energy and technologies, that have been helping develop India further, will also be a party of the discussion.

However, regardless of US presence in the Paris Climate Deal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to the French President Macron that India will go above and beyond for the Paris deal.

So, Trump will be meeting Narendra Modi. I can’t really tell how the meeting will go. Both the leaders are trying to promote their own country first, and their own domestic manufacturing. Both stand on the opposite sides regarding Climate Change and even the H1-B visa.

Corruption protests in Russia

#Russia #Corruption #protests #VladimirPutin #AlexeiNavalny #incidents #politics

More than ten thousand people protested across 100 cities in Russia, covering all the 11 Russian time zone, against political corruption. Out of these, more than a thousand protesters were arrested, including Alexei Navalny, opposition leader and protest organizer. Mr. Navalny has now been sentenced to 30 days in jail.

The protesters who held rallies on Russia day, a national holiday, denounced President Vladimir Putin. The Moscow demonstration featured an unlikely scene of about 5,000 protesters rallying next to an enclosure with geese, a medieval catapult and bearded men in homemade tunics and carrying wooden shields.

Most of the protestors were younger, those who were born/raised during the 17 years of Putin rule. Although School and University staff warned the students to go in such rallies, most of the students unhesitatingly took part in the protests.

This is incredible. Younger generation standing up for the fight against corruption, that too in Russia. I do wish that everyone arrested is safe and sound.
