According to the Chinese President Xi Jinping, China and US should handle sensitive issues in their bilateral ties properly. He told visiting Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that cooperation between the two countries was the only correct choice. President Xi also said that the two countries should enhance coordination on regional hotspot issues, respect each other’s core interests and major concerns and encourage friendly exchanges.

Trump has earlier branded China as a currency manipulator stealing American jobs and also threatened to impose 45 percent tariffs on Chinese goods. Before Tillerson’s visit, Trump even tweeted that North Korea is behaving very badly and has been playing the United States for years, whereas China has done little to help the situation.

China and U.S. has been dealing with a number of contentious issues including the South China Sea, the status of Taiwan, trade as well as the North Korean missile and nuclear threats.
