More than 91 people have been killed in Sri Lanka due to landslides and floods, while more than 100 have been reported rating. Soldiers fanned out in boats and in helicopters to help with rescue operations. INS Kirch operated by Indian Navy was diverted to Colombo for immediate assistance in flood relief operations.
Another Indian Navy ship, INS Shardul, departed Kerala’s Kochi port with medical relief kits and diving teams. INS Jalashwa will also sail out from Visakhapatnam with Humanitarian Assistance Disaster Relief (HADR) stores.
The Sri Lankan island has the wettest time of the year during the southern monsoon from May to September. The current rains are also considered being the worst since 2003, and yet more rain is to be expected.
Please pray for those deceased, and speedy recovery for the injured. I also wish they are able to find the missing people soon, and alive.
