The Night.

This night, it’s just beautiful,
Filled with all the silence;
You hear the sound of heartbeat,
Or the rattle of your soul’s fence.

You pour out your thoughts,
Examine your days content;
What was right or what went wrong,
Pushing hard to earn each cent.

And then nights are full of emotions,
A moment to talk to someone you like;
Because at this time all you hear,
Is the genuine words, not a disguise.

Often, people stay up to wish others,
Whether it’s a birthday or anniversary;
Or even the beginning of a new year,
Or ‘Incidents’ when people end up married.

Some use the night to study, or work,
These are the ones that try harder;
The ones who want to change the world,
And dream about that successful startup.

While there are some who just sleep,
Exhausted from their day’s chores;
They look for the opportunity to lay in bed,
And forget the
numerous daytime lores.

But night is young as well,
For people who want it to be;
Or they binge watch that series,
Netflix and chill is better for me.

Yet, night is full of darkness,
Often portrayed by scaring scenes;
Because anything can happen then,
Incidents caused when you are too keen.

This, and so much more is the night,
Coming and going every single day;
So which night was it for you yesterday?
And which one are you wishing for today?

Sleep: A bliss. A need.

What is the most peaceful moment,
The time when you don’t think;
Or rather you stay in this fantasy world,
That is nothing but a passing dream.

Sleep is a boon for some,
And for some it makes you weak;
For some it rests your body,
While for others it adds to the grief.

For an athlete, sleep is recovery,
The time to grow from a day of practice;
While for a researcher, it is a need,
The time to relax so you can work again.

Some do it to relax there skin,
To have the glow for the next day;
While some do it to wave of their hunger,
As it allows you to regain some lost energy.

For soldiers it is more like a curse,
To need sleep while active on duty;
Whereas the politicians have the bigger role,
And yet, usually sleep without a worry.

Sleep is different things for different people,
The meaning of it even changes with time;
We keep on living and achieving until,
That eternal sleep brings peace to all.

A new study shows that by taking at least 20 minutes of nap in the afternoon, you can increase your creativity and problem-solving ability. Also, the nap can reduce risks of diabetes, heart problems and depression, which often occur if you do not get enough sleep.

Even a loss of one hour of sleep is detrimental to individuals that already struggle with their sleep, and going down to as little as four hours of sleep is a dangerously low amount.

Bosses should consider allowing staff to take a short nap in the office. It can make a huge difference, suggests researchers. 20 minutes nap can make a huge difference.

Eating prebiotics

Intake of dietary fibers found naturally in foods like chicory, artichokes, raw garlic, leeks and onions may help improve sleep and act as a buffer against the psychological impacts of stress.

Monika Fleshner from University of Colorado added, “Given that sufficient NREM (Non-rapid Eye movement) sleep and proper nutrition can impact brain development and function and that sleep problems are common in early life, it is possible that a diet rich in prebiotics started in early life could help improve sleep, support the gut microbiota and promote optimal brain/psychological health.

The study involved feeding three-week old male rats on a diet with either standard chow or chow with prebiotics. They then monitored the rats’ body temperature, gut bacteria and sleep-wake cycles using EEG or brain activity testing.
