Not every other match can be a miracle. Barcelona lost to PSG in the first match by a score of 4-0 but came through in the next match with 6-1, a miracle against a team like PSG. Just in the next game, Barcelona was defeated by Juventus FC by 3-0, and many of the supporters were wishing for a miracle come back once again.

But all hopes were lost when the 2nd leg match between Barcelona and Juventus FC ended with a tie 0-0. Lionel Messi came closest to giving Barcelona a route back into the contest with four strikes at goal but failed to hit the target with any of them and frequently came up short against Juve’s intimidating center-back pairing of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci.

Although Barcelona increased their possession after the half mark, and many of it’s players were in the enemy’s half showing an attacking formation, Juventus was always ready for all the confrontations.

#soccer #sports #RealMadrid #Ronaldo #Bayern #ChampionsLeague

Christiano Ronaldo helped his team reach the semi-finals of the Champions League by scoring a hat-trick against Bayern, to win the game by 4-2. Not only that, he also managed to become the first man to reach 100 Champions League goals.

The key turning point in the match was when Arturo Vidal was given a second yellow card, and sent off the ground , thus reducing Bayern to a 10 man team, similar to what happened in the 1st leg of the quarter final.

The extra man proved decisive as Madrid settle the tie with a three-goal burst either side of half time in extra time.

However, many critics said that two of the goals scored by Ronaldo were clearly offside, and this might be the major reason for Bayern’s defeat.

Soccer: Brazil on edge, Argentina gets another chance

#Brazil #Argentina #WorldCup #soccer #FIFA #Paulinho #Messi

Brazil defeated Uruguay after a spectacular 4-1 game, owing largely to the midfielder Paulinho who scored a hat-trick in the match.

The Brazilians now lead the 10-team round-robin competition by seven points after their latest win. The top four teams in the standings qualify automatically and with only five rounds remaining it would take a freakish set of results to deny Brazil.

Surprisingly, Uruguay scored the first first goal, which was followed by two goals from Paulinho, a goal from Neymar and another goal from Paulinho again.

Uruguay stays at second place in the standings, mostly because of missing their ace Luis Suarez.

In another game, Argentina needed three points to continue their campaign to be able to end up in the top four teams. Argentine Captain Messi scored the much needed victory goal (1-0).
