The Path none crossed

You are here, and yet you stopped,
Because the path ahead, appears blocked;
Then searching for the right path around,
Appears a small one that none crossed.

You question the long road ahead,
So you search for much better options;
And yet in the end, the best one is,
The same path that no one crossed.

You take a step ahead, and turn around,
Afraid, excited, maintaining the poise;
The question again runs through your mind,
“Is this the best, safest and soundest of all?”

You hesitate a little, as it gets lonely,
Reaching halfway, you can’t see people;
Questioning your existence, and this life,
And closing your eyes as you step ahead.

You move forward, and then you realize,
This was the path you should pursue;
It is right, and yet no one crossed,
Because it belonged to you, and you alone.

Emotional mis-steps.

“Stop it! Why do you keep gaming? What is so great about it? You should do something productive with your time”, Alex’s father scolded him.

“But I am good at it. See I am already ranked in Diamond class, only a handful of players can reach this stage”, Alex replied, “I am only 19, so I might even be able to make a career in this.”

“Did you just say a career? Are you an idiot? Who will allow there kid to be a gamer. Will you be even able to earn anything. Stop the day dreaming and focus on your study. Next time I see you playing, I will throw the computer away. You should go to sleep now”, the father warned and shut the door.

Alex was very angry. He thought about running away, then he was just sad as he didn’t have any other place to go. He just kept on looking at the game screen for another hour, thinking, “why is this so bad. Why is gaming considered bad? People even play sports and a lot more people try and fail at sports than gaming, in that way gaming has a much higher chance for a person to succeed”, and so his thoughts continued. Before he realized, he went to sleep on the chair with his head resting on the keyboard.

Next morning his father woke him up. He was looking at Alex with disgust. As Alex lifted his head from the keyboard, accidentally pressing some of the keys. He could see a familiar screen on the monitor and after realizing what it was, he turned his head towards his father, scared of what’s coming.

His father punched the wall, only to get hurt himself. He shook his hand and began blowing on it slowly.

All this time Alex was just watching, not knowing what to do, not knowing what to think. He kept looking at his father as he slowly blowed on his knuckles.

After about five minutes his father spoke, much slowly, hoping that Alex would understand, “Please Alex. I can understand by the way you say it, that you must be good at gaming. That’s good. But families don’t earn on games. They need real job. I am already 45 and would want to retire in another 5-10 years. In the time I ask you to do something meaningful with your life so that you can stand up on your own feet. I know you are capable of doing anything if you put your mind to it. So start doing something productive.”

Alex was speechless, it was hard to reply to the weak voice of his father. He wanted to say, “I am confident! I can win and earn from gaming. I can join a professional team. I can make a name for myself”, but he couldn’t gather the courage to say that. Tears began to roll out from his eyes and he just nodded to whatever he heard.

“Thank you, his father replied. I believe in you. You can do so much more.”, his father repeated, and hugged him.

The sights to freedom – 1

Seko had been dreaming about leading in the fields of Sports, Modeling, Investing and Business since the age of 19. However, he didn’t knew that the competition in each of those fields was way too tough to lead, much less lead in all the four fields.

Now at the age of 24, he still dreamt of being at the top in those fields without having made a little contribution in them. He was often criticized by his parents of his blind thinking and unattainable goals. Slowly and steadily he lost most of hai friends and only a couple were left, but even they didn’t know about Seko’s fantasies. Seko also feared telling them as he thought that they might also leave him thinking he is crazy.

What was Seko supposed to do? Frustrated with is stop since the past four years he finally planned on doing something. But it was harder than he thought.

The past five years of mild efforts had made his body relaxed, sleep in late, drink, his mind was confused and heavy, while he was short of breath at times. His round belly was visible from a distance and his laziness often cost him the respect he could deserve.

“No no, I will make it a point to change. It won’t work like this else.”, He thought to himself.

He had recently read that it takes at least 21 days to turn a task into a habit, while it takes 90 days to turn it into a lifestyle. What he wanted was for a lifetime, so he needed to be ‘very’ disciplined for at least 90 days before his body gets accustomed to the routine and starts to act on things on it’s own.

And so began his journey for his SMIC routine…If he could attain 6 hours of Exercise/Sports and 10 hours of Work/Business, he should be all set to achieve his objectives. But there are many other take in a day besides this such as getting ready, eating, sleeping, talking to family and commuting. Is it okay to skip a few? No no. Everything on that list is important on a daily basis. All of them need to be done to have a relaxed mind and body.

“Let’s start slow”, he said to himself, “then we can see how things work and take it from there.”

Sports – Exercises related to Running

Modeling – Exercises to tone the muscles

Investing – Read the finance column and dabble in stock market for at least an hour daily

Creation – Manage what is at present and dive in something new by exploring the innovative possibilities

Will he be able to start his journey from this day?

What is success for you?

Indeed. Everyone says, “I want to be successful.”, but the definition of success for everyone is different.
For some people, success is getting more money, buying a new car, a new house, a new wife, and so on. For some, it is more on the spiritual level when you feel more satiated, satisfied, calm and at peace. For some it is just seeing the happiness of others or donating in charities. For some, success is traveling around the world. There are different ways of success, and we usually hold different definitions of the same. For a lion, it is catching the prey, for a mosquito, it is sucking some blood and for a koala, it is getting a good amount of sleep.

At the same time, success is simply defined as “gaining something for yourself”. Now it can be anything as we saw above.

“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” – Maya Angelou

My main topic is what is success for you? Is it life, spiritual, money or something/someone else? In the same way, you can’t perceive what is success for others whether rich or poor, tall or short and thin or fat. Everyone has different targets/goals/visions.

Take five minutes of today, close your eyes and think where you want to be.
Take another five minutes and write down where you want to be.
Take another five minutes and write how you plan to get there. A practical approach.
Take just five minutes and review the plan, cross it out and write again.
Take five more minutes and think about how will it feel like when you get there.

That’s it. Just 25 minutes of your day. Repeat this exercise until you are fixated upon where you want to be. Then you will want it more. And achieving it will make you happier.

Purpose – Waking Up

Have a purpose in your life. That is the easiest way I can define it for you.

If your purpose is to enjoy, then Enjoy and celebrate, is it is to reach the top, then work harder and reach the top, if it is to help others, then trace around to help others, and if it is to earn more money, then focus and earn money. There are so many things you can pursue and achieve in life, so start with it. Be bold!

Don’t wake up in the morning, aimless, confused about life, thinking that it is another day of work. Don’t wake with a mindset of a distraught person unsatisfied with life. You have been given the opportunity. Use it. Every single moment counts.

Get out of bed, adjust your pillow, fold that blanket, have the morning tea and get ready. For most people, the world doesn’t wait. And a minority of people force the world to wait. Which one are you?

Choose your own life, your own style, your own art and your own rhythm.

Step on it!

Journal #5

“Adopt a never-give-up attitude. Learn fromyour mistakes, but always stay determined to pursue your dreams and achieve success.” – Manny Khoshbin

February 24th, Day 5. It’s been a very tiring day. Actually on the weekends, even though you don’t do any work, you feel so tired (Maybe the body gets so used to working on weekdays that just being lousy all day feels tiring 😐).

A Sunday is no exercise day, so slept till late. Then got ready for a religious task, had a good breakfast with kheer (rice pudding). Since then it was just a lousy day, doing nothing and thinking about my career path in life. Truly when your mind has nothing to do, it begins to question its own choices and existence. So never be too free!

Actually there is also parents anniversary tomorrow so I went to shop for a gift only to return empty handed. Don’t you think choosing a gift is one of the hardest task? You need to think of the person will appreciate it and find it useful or not. In the end, I decided to think carefully and give them at a later date.

I also have to complete an assignment that is to be submitted tomorrow, hopefully I will finish it before I sleep.

On the bright side, I did finally fix upon a career path (it was on my mind since the past month), so let’s hope for the best. And of course, put in more effort!

Instead of learning from other people’s success, learn from their mistakes. Most of the people who fail share common reasons (to fall) whereas success can be attributed to various different kinds of reasons.
