Indian evidence on Kashmir protests

#India #Pakistan #Kashmir #UN #UNHRC #protests #terrorism #politics

Pakistan has been given “concrete evidence” about its cross-border “encouragement and support” for the protests in Kashmir. India has also accused Pakistan of misusing the UN platform to further its despicable political objectives.

Indian representative mentioned that Pakistan is using terror to destabilize Kashmir, terrorism receives sustenance from Pakistan. Pakistan is using short-sighted tactics to divert attention as the terrorist breeding ground. Even after referring to UN Security Council resolutions, Pakistan has very conveniently forgotten it’s own obligation of vacating the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan has no hesitation in using air power/military against its own people repeatedly. The country has become an epicenter for terrorism and has seen continuous degradation and weakening.

Really. Pakistan government has no sense of pride, or justice. Harboring terrorism, as mentioned and verified by several countries is a grave ill both to the nation and the world. And then, instead of cleaning it’s own territory, the country keeps interfering in another nation’s activities. And then it has its own issue of Balochistan. How can the country even find the pride to speak anything in the UNHR Council.

After a successful missile launch test, North Korea confirmed its combat readiness. The missile is believed to be able to reach Japan and Hawaii. The missile, Pukguksong-2, which is solid fueled, flew about 500 kilometers and reached a height of 560 kilometers on Sunday.

Kim Jong Un, North Korean Leader, said that the missile should “be rapidly mass-produced.” North Korean’s often stated goal is to perfect a nuclear warhead that it can put on a missile capable of hitting Washington or other U.S. cities.

A UN Security council consultation is being held on Tuesday at the request of US, Japan and South Korea.

David Wright, an expert on missiles and nuclear program said that the missile could have been flown farther but was fired on a ‘lofty’ trajectory.

So it seems North Korea was finally able to develop something in all the years when other nations were trying to talk it out of this.

A North Korean mid-range ballistic missile apparently failed shortly after launch Saturday, South Korea and the United States said, the third test-fire flop just this month but a clear message of defiance as a US supercarrier conducts drills in nearby waters.

North Korean missile tests are banned by the UN fearing that the country might become adept in manufacturing and launching nuclear missiles which can strike the US mainland.  President Trump tweeted that North Korea disrespected the wishes of China and launched a missile today. Bad.

According to the South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff, the missile flew for around two minutes, reaching a height of 71 km and then it failed. The missile was likely a medium ranged KN-17 ballistic missile, which broke up and the pieces fell into the Sea of Japan. The missile might have traveled about 50 km before it’s failure.

Oh North. It’s admirable how North Korea keeps trying even though most of the launches fail. Failures are the stepping stone towards success.

Mr. Modi is one of the best Prime Ministers, having a way with people and being able to share their ideas & opinions. I just wished he was stronger in the Pakistan terrorism attacks on military.

Baloch leaders condemn Jadhav’s execution

#Balochistan #Pakistan #KulbhushanJadhav #UN #international #BJP #Modi #India

Baloch Republican Party (BRP) member Ashraf Sherjan commented that Kulbhushan Jadhav’s death sentence was ‘inhuman and illegal’. He also urged Prime Minister of India to do everything to save Jadhav’s life. He also said that Pakistan should bring Jadhav to the international court if he is guilty and connected to any terrorism in Balochistan. A country by itself shouldn’t have any right to give death sentences to foreign citizens.

The representative of Balochistan at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) Mehran Marri called the death sentence given to Jadhav as ‘extra judicial killing’ and a ‘premeditated murder’.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy has said that if Pakistan follows through such an execution, India will recognise Balochistan as an independent sovereign country. Balochistan is one of the four provinces of Pakistan. Although it makes 44 percent of the Pakistan by land, it has only 7 percent of the population of the country. It has been fighting to be separated from Pakistan since decades, mainly because Pakistani soldiers often exploit the land and people of the area, but no country in the world has come forward to support it’s cause.

Indian Extarnal Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, issued a stern warning to Pakistan that if the plan is carried forward by Pakistan, it will result in damaging bilateral relations and India will go out of the way to save Jadhav.

I don’t even have any comments on this. What is Pakistan exactly trying to do here.

It will take 4 to 5 decades to clean up weapons in Iraq, Syria

#Iraq #Syria #IS #terrorism #war #UN #explosives #international

Due to the mines, improvised devices and other unexploded ordnance, in Iraq and Syria, spread across the region, it might take at least 40 to 50 years for the two countries to be cleared of the weapons.

Even in the post-World War II countries in Europe, sometimes unexploded ordnance is found till this day. Hence, the threats and changes of war can never be fully reversed.

Agnes Marcaillou, director of the UN Mine Action Service said that around $170 million to $180 million will be used per year to clean up the areas, and this includes a $50 million per year charge to just make Mosul safe, which is still held by Islamic State extremists. (This means, that for a total of 40 years, the cost can mount to be more than $5 billion).

US representative Nikki Haley’s mother couldn’t be a judge in India

#US #Trump #NikkiHaley #UN #India #immigration #international #muslim

US representative to United Nations, Nikki Haley, said that her mother was not allowed to be a judge in India because she was a woman. She was actually put up to be one of the first female judges in India, but because of the situation with women, she wasn’t allowed to sit on the bench. But how amazing for her to watch her daughter become governor of South Carolina and US ambassador to the UN.

However, according to the records, a woman named Anna Chandy had become a judge in Travancore in pre-Independence India. She was promoted to District judge in 1948 and to a high court judge in 1959. She was able to sit on the bench and was allowed to function as a judge.

Haley’s parents emigrated from India in the 1960s and she said that she is proud to be the daughter of Indian immigrants who believe the family is ‘blessed’ to be American.

Haley also supported President Trump’s decision of banning six-Muslim countries, saying that there were more than a dozen other Muslim countries that were not banned. Hence, Trump was temporary banning the people and refugees because the rise in immigrants was making it hard for all the immigrants to be properly vetted. Thus, the administration was stopping them till the problem could be resolved.

Extreme temperatures to continue globally

#weather #climate #globalWarming #WMO #UN #extremeTemperatures

2016 saw record temperatures, shrinking sea ice and surging sea levels. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warned on Tuesday that the signs appear to be the same this year also, with extreme temperatures.

Last year, global average temperatures were also the highest on record last year; sea levels continued to rise; and Arctic sea ice levels were far below average, it found, warning that greenhouse gas emissions were the main driver behind the warming trend.

The organization also said that with the increase in technological capabilities, it is now possible to clearly demonstrate the links between man-made climate change and high-impact extreme events.

Changes in the Arctic and melting sea ice are leading to a shift in wider oceanic and atmospheric circulation patters. This is also effecting weather elsewhere, since it impacts the waves in the jet stream.

India criticizes Pakistan at UN

#India #Pakistan #UN #PoK #minorities

Pakistan accused India for the way minorities are treated in India during the UN meeting, and Indian had a fitting reply to the Pakistan representative.

India called Pakistan a country that has alienated its own people through continued mistreatment of Hindus, Christians, Shias, Ahmadiyas, and other minorities. Pakistan referred to the situation of minorities in India, without carefully reviewing the facts that minorities in India have been the country’s Prime Ministers, Presidents, Vice-Presidents, senior cabinet ministers, senior civil servants, cricket team captains and even Bollywood stars. Is it possible to say the same for minorities of Pakistan?

India also raised issues on Kashmir that Pakistan has forcibly occupied in the past (PoK – Pakistan occupied Kashmir). It is unfortunate that in recent times the people of PoK have become victims of sectarian conflict, terrorism and extreme economic hardship because of Pakistan’s occupation and discriminatory policies.
