Brazil defeated Uruguay after a spectacular 4-1 game, owing largely to the midfielder Paulinho who scored a hat-trick in the match.
The Brazilians now lead the 10-team round-robin competition by seven points after their latest win. The top four teams in the standings qualify automatically and with only five rounds remaining it would take a freakish set of results to deny Brazil.
Surprisingly, Uruguay scored the first first goal, which was followed by two goals from Paulinho, a goal from Neymar and another goal from Paulinho again.
Uruguay stays at second place in the standings, mostly because of missing their ace Luis Suarez.
In another game, Argentina needed three points to continue their campaign to be able to end up in the top four teams. Argentine Captain Messi scored the much needed victory goal (1-0).
